Crop Walk

Crop Walk October 11, 2009
Date:
October 11, 2009

On Sunday, October 11th, we once again have the opportunity to participate in the Greater
Lansing CROP Walk. Here are a few significant facts:
• Last year CROP Hunger Walks and events raised over $17 million to support
the hunger-fighting work of Church World Service around the block and
around the world.
• With those resources, wells, seeds, tools, and literacy training were provided
to African farmers – who are mostly women.
• Emergency medical supplies for flood victims in the United States, health
services and safe water for the displaced in Darfur, and vocational training
for indigenous communities in Latin America – these are only a few of the
ways you are making a difference through our CROP Hunger Walk.
See Laurel Headley to get a sponsor envelop.
If walking is not your thing, you can sign up to be one of the “rockers” at the church that
Sunday afternoon.
If you are busy on October 11th, you can walk or rock any time any place.
Most importantly, be a sponsor! Sponsor envelopes for our participants are on display in
the fellowship hall.
Just to make things interesting, here is a challenge: If Gunnisonville and Bath combine to
raise at least $4,000 I will allow walkers to shave off my beard, one half at the end of a
Gunnisonville worship service and the other half at the beginning of the service at Bath.
Last year the combined contributions from the two congregations added up to $2,490.
So, for only $1,510 more you can find out what I have been hiding behind my beard.
